The balance of the doshas is reflected on even organs and therefore the skin too acts as a mirror in order to observe their qualities and take into account any possible imbalances. The skin characterized by Vata is basically cold, dry, rough, lacking in elasticity, wrinkled, prone to chronic dehydration.
Pitta
skin is hot, oily, sensitive, reddened, reactive, prone to acne or couperose.
Kapha
skin is cold, humid, lacking in vitality, swollen, prone to water retention and fatty accumulation.

Vata type is a great lover of the sun and hot climates. Tans easily without burning but the color is not uniform. May have blotches or depigmented areas.
Pitta type doesn't like the sun, tans with difficulty and tends to redden. Is prone to sun-rash, reactiveness and freckles.
Kapha type is quite fond of the sun.Tans uniformely and easily. Tends to redden only after over exposure. The color is uniform.
